You know, I am almost never surprised by the racist rhetoric coming out of the Republican camp. I mean, why should I be? We see so much of it these days. However, most of them stop short of blatant racism. It is usually the sort of thinly veiled bigotry that can be spun or recanted or somehow downplayed. Not this time, though. This latest emergence of disgusting bigotry is put before us in plain terms for all to see, and it is done by one of our elected officials.
